Baltimore Battle Monument
In case anyone cares, this is the Battle Monument. It honors those who defended the city in 1814 from the British attack and is one of the great icons of Baltimore. Plans for its construction began barely 6 months after the Battle of Baltimore. It is one of America's first war memorials and is central to my thesis.
