New Hometown Bishop

Yesterday at Mass I found out the Archdiocese of Baltimore has a new bishop, Edwin O'Brien. I haven't been able to do my homework on him yet. All I know is he's from the military diocese and I have a great respect for the military diocese.

More on that later.

It was kind of odd to pray for Benedict, our Pope, William our archdiocesan administrator (or something to that effect), and Edwin our bishop elect. I've been praying for Cardinal Keeler at Mass for as long as I can remember (though I was in fact born before he was installed). It was almost as odd as switching from John Paul to Benedict.

If anyone has any insight on O'Brien, particularly on his dealings with Traddies and the like, let me know.

The military archdiocese offices were above the Institute's until they finished their new building, and we went up there for daily Mass with him and one of the other military bishops (who sadly passed away in January) occasionally. The homilies were pretty good for daily Mass with ten people, and he followed the rubrics. Not much other experience with him, though.

If you find out when O'Brien is being installed, let me know. I'd really like to attend the ceremony if I'm free.

As a member of the Archdiocese of the Military, I have been very pleased with Archbiship O'Brien. I have found him to be very Orthodox. I'm not sure how he feels about the Tridentine Mass.

Ditto with anna clare, I'd like to attend the ceremony.

God Bless.
