Old Feast of St Matthias

Today is the feast of St. Matthias on the Old Calendar. The new day is May 14 which happens to be after most everyone has left school (it falls during Senior Week this year - the week after finals and everyone but the seniors leave and before commencement). Because of this, coupled with the fact that my favorite namesake of the Saint has a summer birthday and consequentially never gets any sort of celebration, we're celebrating it today.

Happy nameday, Matthias! :-)

Amen.
O God, who joined blessed Matthias to the company of thine Apostles, grant, we beseech You, that by his intercession we may ever be aware of the depths of Your goodness around us. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son our Lord. Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
