White fluff

And so it happened:

In philosophy class today my professor, a native of Vermont, came in glad that it was finally "brisk outside." "I was starting to worry South Bend actually had really wussy winters and all the students from warmer places made it sound big." We assured him that South Bend does indeed have cold, snowy winters that are hardly wussy. We promised him it would start snowing soon.
After class no sooner had I stepped outside that a soft, white fleck came drifting down from the sky right past my face.
"Hey - do you see what I see?" the guy walking behind me asked his friend.
"Yeah. Snow. It's started."

Nearly 12 hours later, white dust covers the campus and blows like sand across the sidewalk in the harsh wind.

An Ode to Snow ~ by my little sister. - very slightly adapted, original color remains

To remind all of us at Notre Dame that while we soon may be cursing the white fluff, there are many kids who would give anything for a really good (or at least decent, or even any) snowfall.

SNOW, SNOW, WISH WE HAD SNOW.

OH, WELL, SNOWY, SNOWY,
ONCE IT FALLS I CAN SLED!!!
THEN WHEN I GO TO BED,
I WAKE UP AND THERE IS
SNOW, SNOW, SNOW,

SNOW, SNOW, WISH WE HAD SNOW.

AND...SNOWY, SNOWY, SNOW!
MY SNOWBOARD IS HAPPY,
AND I AM HAPPY TOO.
I WILL GIVE A SHOUT AND YAHOOOOO!
(when we have snow!)
